Basel Theaterplatz The fountain in the Theaterplatz is by Jean Tingully and features several moving mechanical creations that spray water.

In early December 2001, the weather was well below zero in all of Switzerland, including Basel. This caused the water to freeze in the fountain. |
|
Basel normally does not get such cold weather regularly, so capturing the frozen waters in the Tingully fountain is unusual. |
