Pilatus is the
brother to Rigi. Both mountains are on the Vierwaldstattersee near Luzern,
Rigi is in the east and Pilatus in the NW (northwest and partly in Nidwalden).
Pilatus is considered to be Luzern's 'home mountain'.
|
Pilatus is 2132 metre high. The
view here is east over the Vierwaldstattersee, which lies under
the clouds. The fog-clouds (Nebelmeer) were at 700m, you can see
the Burgenstock rising above them in the cloud see in the centre
left. The Alps are in the background (peaks
above 3000m).

View at the halfway point - this is
where the sledders head down to Kriens (Luzern). The pictures were
taken in February.

Alpine church just below the summit
of pilatus - I especially liked the shadows from this angle.
|
|

Pilatus church - the path seems rather difficult
to reach this church. I guess they do not have regular Sunday services.

The birds here have notoriously excellent eyesight
- they can spot tourists from kilometres away....
